Exploring the World
Nairobi

Nairobi is remarkable for its dynamism.
Hustling is deeply rooted in the lifestyle of kenyans, which results in a double economy with in one hand the corporate office hours and in the other hand the formidable informal businesses with no age limit. The economy is free, the talent pool is cheap and streets are relatively safe. The mix has foster foreign investment and accelerate the development of the city.
Yet, the whole economy seems to live one day at a time and any long term investment like Capital-risk or infrastructure seems to be relatively under-developed. On the other side, the number of opportunities (access, optimisation, fix) is huge and the market is big and well connected to close neighbours like Rwanda or Tanzania.
Hence, the number of startup has expand very fast. The number of supporting structures for startups is impressive and events are quite frequent in the city.
Remarkable places
iHub
The name of iHub is renown everywhere in Kenya, even outside in Rwanda and Ethiopia. Brith place of many local success the iHub is also the most active community space in Kenya. I namely had the opportunity to attend the OpenCellular Workshop co-organized with Facebook to share experience about bringing connectivity to rural areas.
